Something Special About Living in Los Cabos!
What is it about Los Cabos that continues to lure visitors to relocate to the Southern Baja Peninsula? If you would ask a dozen people ‘WHY’ they made the move you would assuredly receive twelve different responses. And although each person would tell their own story and reveal their own journey to the Baja area, the overwhelming answer would be there is there is Something Special to be experienced in Los Cabos.
“Los Cabos” translated is ‘The Capes’.
It is not just one city or town, but a regional area that encompasses Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, The Corridor, as it’s called (between these two cities), the East Cape that stretches out North from San Jose along the Sea of Cortez coast and the Pacific Side, which extends out past the border of Cabo San Lucas and along the Pacific Ocean. To say that Los Cabos is a single destination would limit one’s total Los Cabos experience!
To begin to answer this it must be recognized that ‘Special’ is a relative term and subjective to most of us. Therefore, we must find some measure for this to be considered. By definition, ‘Special’ is what each of us considers distinct, different or superior in comparison to others of the same kind. In my personal opinion, to even find another destination that could rival Los Cabos is difficult at best, but then again this is a subjective response. Therefore, let me stick to the facts and brief you on the inimitable characteristics of Los Cabos.
Upon arriving to Los Cabos, your first impression will be that the area definitely has a distinct landscape! The topography of the land is beautifully made up of a rocky desert terrain paired with the soft pristine beaches that border the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. Where else can you sit on the beach next to a flowering cactus garden admiring a tropical sunset that hovers over mountainous peaks that jut out of the ocean? In Los Cabos, beautiful combinations of landscapes culminate together and can be viewed through such recognizable landmarks as ‘The Arch’ at Lands End, in Cabo San Lucas.

First impressions of Cabo San Lucas introduce a lively city that seems to span just a few crowded city blocks; however, it is a sprawling city that spans from Cabo’s notorious El Medano beach up through the city towards the Pacific and up into the mountainous terrain. Yes, it’s true that Cabo is famous for its nightlife and you can find many people at such hot spots as Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo and El Squid Roe listening to live music and bouncing to the beat of the Baja well into the wee hours. But there is so much more to be experienced.
Water enthusiasts will find Los Cabos to be a haven for water activities including SUP paddle boarding, surfing, body boarding, kayaking, parasailing, and riding wave runners. You need not be a pro, with your own equipment, as rentals and lessons are readily available to the novice. However, if you are a ‘Pro’ and crave bigger waves, seek out the famous surf beaches along The Corridor (Zippers) or up near Todos Santos (Los Cerritos Bay) to obtain an adrenalin rush!
